In Zadvarje, the fortress stands along a route that leads from the coast at the foot of Biokovo inland and whose course had already been traced in prehistoric times.

Nature

Velika Gubavica is a waterfall near the fortress of Zadvarje and less than a mile away from it. The waterfall is 49 metres high.

Culture and history

The old church in Zadvarje was consecrated in 1774. HE Kraljevac is also part of the local history: the hydroelectric power plant is located near Zadvarje, above Omiš, on the left bank of the Cetina. It began producing electricity in 1912 with two generating units. In terms of size and output, HE Kraljevac was one of Europe's largest hydroelectric power plants at that time.

Local life

Zadvarje's Pazar market tradition has been documented for more than three centuries. The market continues to take place on Tuesdays and has a covered area for food.

Activities

The official Cetina Blues Rock cycling route passes through Zadvarje. It is 68.3 kilometres long and has a total elevation gain of 983 metres.

Orientation

A children's playground called Krški poligon was completed as part of the Zadvarje promenade. A panoramic webcam is located near the fortress of Zadvarje.
