Bibinje: Hotels and Accommodation

Beaches and Coast

Punta Beach is a pebble beach on the eastern outskirts of Bibinje, next to D-Marin Marina Dalmacija. There is a restaurant, a café and beach volleyball courts nearby, where tournaments are held. Volleyball is played daily on the beaches of Punta, Punta Rožica and Lipauska.

Punta Rožica is Bibinje’s main beach and is located in Staro selo. The pebble beach has concrete sunbathing areas, showers and changing rooms. Lipauska Beach has a sandy surface that attracts numerous visitors and locals. Šulterova vala is considered a beach popular with the youngest swimmers.

Cycling

Bibinje Bike Adventure is a 27-kilometre cycling route with 290 metres of elevation gain that covers the centre of Bibinje and its hinterland. The route includes around ten points of interest, including several important churches, the sites of old wells and a panoramic viewpoint.

Culinary Delights

Bibinjski kogo is a traditional gastronomic event where visitors can watch the preparation of an authentic Bibinje dish made from black-coloured rolled pasta with squid ink (manestrun) and taste it. Between the Taline promenade and Trg Sri sela, numerous restaurants and konobas offer local specialities such as fish, mussels, seafood, grilled meat, roast lamb, as well as Kroštule and Fritule.

The Town

Bibinje’s protected cultural heritage includes the cultural and historical ensemble of the settlement. The Church of St John the Baptist stands in the centre of the Bibinje peninsula, in the heart of the historic old town, and is a valuable cultural monument of Bibinje’s heritage. It houses a collection of sacred objects from the 15th century and is considered Bibinje’s first church as well as the town’s first source of Christianity.

The Church of St Roch was first mentioned in 1673, when it was rebuilt after the Great Turkish Attack. Its oldest surviving altar dates from 1680, while the main altar was created by Michiel Coste in 1768.

The Church of the Martyrdom of St John the Baptist is a single-nave Romanesque church with a semicircular apse and is located south of Bibinje on Cape Punta. The remains of the Roman Biba-Jader aqueduct in the Lonići area date from the late 1st or early 2nd century, during the reign of Emperor Trajan. The aqueduct was part of a 40-kilometre aqueduct running from Vrana to Zadar. The locality of Petrina is named after the small 8th-century Church of St Peter.

Raspivano Bibinje has been held since 1977 and is the oldest and best-known klapa event in Zadar County. Bibinje is also home to a diving club called Sv. Roko.
