Culture and History

Dračevac Ninski was first mentioned in 1327 in a document from the archive of St. Krševan in Zadar and was destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout its history.

The cemetery church of St. Martin has been documented since 1550; it is specifically mentioned in a document from that year. During restoration work, finds were interpreted as evidence that the building dates from the 12th century. In addition, two small windows are considered evidence that St. Martin's Church dates from the 12th century. It originally had a semicircular apse, which was removed during a later modification. The church is a single-nave building with a rectangular eastern apse, 6 metres wide and 14 metres long. It was built in 1785 and is one of the ecclesiastical buildings in this area with late Baroque features.

The parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands in the centre of Dračevac Ninski, at a place called “Kod oraha”. It was completed and blessed in 1980; a sacristy was built for it in 1987. Later, a bell tower with two bells was completed for the parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

A dedication plaque with an inscription in the Glagolitic script is located at the parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Its main altar is made of marble and includes a tabernacle. Until the construction of the new parish church, St. Martin's Church served as the parish church; its altar mensa was transferred from the church of St. Krševan in Zadar.

Landscape

Systematic excavations identify Crno Vrilo as one of the most characteristic Early Neolithic settlement communities on the eastern Adriatic coast. The Late Neolithic settlement near Crno Vrilo lies in the area of today's settlement of Dračevac Ninski and is associated with significant remains of the Impresso culture.

The abundant Crno Vrilo spring lies approximately 170 metres from the southernmost part of the Neolithic settlement in Dračevac Ninski, on the right-hand side of the river valley. Crno Vrilo is a freshwater spring at the contact between carbonate rock and the sandy-marly flysch zone.

A Sunday Mass is listed for Dračevac Ninski at 8:30 a.m., including in July and August.

Cycling

On the return journey, the Poličnik–Posedarje–Novigrad–Zadar road cycling loop passes through Dračevac Ninski in the direction of Poličnik.
