The Doudlebánek children's folklore ensemble is based at Straňany 35 and performs at festivals, community celebrations, and for local audiences. Straňany also retains a row of houses with gateways and simple gables from the original architecture.

Traditions

The Doudlebské dožínky folklore festival has been held annually in Doudleby since 1997. At the festival, the procession starts in Straňany at the Bustov farmstead with decorated horse-drawn wagons. In Doudleby, the procession turns and continues to Čapák, where performances take place outdoors.

Velikonoční řehtání is a local folk tradition in which younger children first walk through Doudleby and then through Straňany, rattling wooden ratchets. Doudleban is considered the longest-established folklore ensemble in South Bohemia.

History

The documented history of Straňany dates back to a document from 1360, in which Buňata is mentioned as the local judge of Straňany. Čapkův most is classified as an immovable cultural monument. It was built in 1928 and 1929 to replace a wooden footbridge that was frequently damaged by floodwater or ice floes during the spring thaw.

Geographical Setting

The Malše separates Straňany from Doudleby. On the Velešín–Roudné cycle route, the route descends in Straňany to the Malše.

The bridge connects two parts of the municipality of Doudleby on the banks of the Malše.
