Bikal has two churches dating from different periods. The Catholic church was consecrated to Saint Anne on 26 July 1797. The Evangelical church of the locally significant congregation was built in 1869. If you’re interested in architectural and local history, you can use these dates as a guide. However, they do not establish current visiting hours or whether both buildings can be viewed inside.

Baron Antal Puchner had a residence built in Bikal in the late 1840s. Puchner Castle was remodelled several times and a park was added; at the end of the 19th century, it acquired its present-day late Historicist appearance. It is therefore not a building preserved unchanged from its first construction phase. If architecture is the focus of your trip, it’s worth distinguishing between its different historical layers. Whether the castle or park is currently open to the public should be checked separately.

A monument in the main square commemorates 75 residents who died during the Second World War in combat, as prisoners of war or in labour camps. This memorial belongs to a different aspect of local history from the leisure activities. Élménybirtok presents history as an immersive experience. Its walled old town can be accessed through four large gates and invites visitors to explore actively. This makes the visit different from simply touring historic churches or the castle.
