Csongrád: Hotels and Accommodation

The Csongrád Tájház presents the way of life and residential culture of the former fishermen, ship carpenters, boatmen and day labourers of the Csongrád inland settlement in two period-furnished building sections.

Culture and History

The permanent exhibition “Csongrád, a Fekete vár virága” at the Tari-László Museum presents the most important events in the city’s history from prehistoric times to the change of political system. The Népek Háza Babamúzeum displays more than 500 dressed dolls from countries on four continents.

The Nagyboldogasszony Church also preserves special historical details: its main altarpiece is a copy of Titian’s “Assunta”, and the church also has a Rieger organ dating from 1910. The foundation stone was laid in 1762; the church was completed in several construction phases and consecrated in honour of Nagyboldogasszony in 1769.

The international Plein Air artists’ colony has been held at the Csongrádi Alkotóház for decades. The International Bronze Symposium, featuring artists from several countries, has also been held there for decades. Csongrád’s traditional recurring events also include the Csongrádi Napok, the Wine Festival, the Bread Festival and the Körös-toroki Napok.

Nature and Trails

In spring, numerous wading birds gather in the protected Csongrádi Kónya-szék area, including black-tailed godwits and redshanks.

Visitors can use cycle paths and hiking trails in Csongrád that connect the city with the surrounding settlements. Csongrád is easily accessible by road, rail and water.

Opening Hours

The Csongrád Tájház is open from 1 May to 15 October, Wednesday to Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Tari-László Museum is located at 2 Iskola utca in Csongrád and has seasonal opening hours: from 1 November to 31 March, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; from 1 April to 31 October, it is open Tuesday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
