Another way to experience the region is by cycling along the Által-ér route, which connects Tata, Vértesszőlős and Tatabánya simply and safely. Architecture and exhibitions are among the visitor highlights at the Majki Kamalduli Remeteség. The Baroque monument complex includes seventeen hermit cells, a church tower and a monastery. An exhibition covers the general history of the Camaldolese order as well as its history in Hungary. The Brigetio Öröksége Látogatóközpont focuses on archaeological finds, with an interactive permanent exhibition featuring objects discovered during excavations at Brigetio. A different historical focus awaits at the Monostori Erőd. As a military monument within the Komárom fortification system, it brings the eras of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the World Wars and the Soviet occupation to life through exhibitions and staged scenes.

The Komárom fortification system extends across the territory of both Komároms and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. This designation applies to the fortification system, not solely to the Monostori Erőd. Those interested in historic sites can thus distinguish between Brigetio’s archaeological exhibits, the Camaldolese complex at Majk and the military history presented at the fortress.

A guided visit to Bábolna Nemzeti Ménesbirtok begins with an exhibition on the history of the stud farm and continues in the Ménesudvar. The “Fogat bemutató, ménfelvezetés” programme presents four-, five- and two-horse teams. Visitors can try these historical means of transport for themselves. The programme combines insights into the stud farm’s history with a presentation of different horse teams.

Carriage rides to the nearby arboretum are another distinct part of a visit. Two carriages are used, drawn by Shagya Arabian mares. Important for your planning: advance booking is required.
