Since 1964, the village museum has presented the way of life of a typical Palóc farming family. It displays their home, furniture, clothing and agricultural tools. The visit therefore focuses on different aspects of everyday life: living space and furnishings, as well as clothing and work equipment. For travelers who want to learn about domestic life as well as architecture, the museum complements a walk through the old village with specific objects and themes.

The post museum offers a different perspective. Its permanent exhibition, “The Post of Palócföld,” uses two rooms to show the development of the postal network in the Palóc region and related postal memorabilia. Unlike the village museum, its focus is not the life of a farming family but the history of the region’s postal service. Visitors can also try pottery or weaving in individual craft workshops in Hollókő Ófalu.

The castle presents its history and legends in an interactive exhibition. The areas on display include a knights’ hall, historic living quarters and a chapel. A visit thus combines stories about the castle with a variety of rooms in the exhibition. During guided tours, you can ask the castle staff questions; the Hollókői-vár app also serves as a digital guide. These formats give you different ways to explore the castle’s themes.

The castle is on the hill above the village, and its ruins are part of the World Heritage area. To understand Hollókő’s layout, you can consider the preserved settlement structure and the castle as two distinct elements of the place, rather than treating them as a single museum experience.

The 4.5-kilometer Hollókő Bio Nature Trail loops around Vár-hegy and Túlsó-mező, a grazed area with trees. Along the way, it introduces habitats typical of the Cserhát. Its stated length and the named landscape areas give a concrete idea of the nature themes this trail focuses on.

The Kertek-alja Nature Trail runs through the valley of the Hollókői stream, along the ends of the gardens that descend toward the valley. It offers a distinct landscape experience from the themes of the bio nature trail. The Hollókői Tájvédelmi Körzet covers only the administrative area of Hollókő; the entire area is freely accessible.
