The exhibition combines natural history with a look at Hungary’s historical borders: it features minerals, rocks and fossils from historical Hungary—whose territory extended beyond the borders of today’s country—as well as from neighbouring countries. The four rooms cover a total of 120 square metres. Visitors can also learn about geological eras.

Among the exhibition’s notable items are the painting Teremtérmítosz by artist Vincze László and a carved Bányamanó figure from the mining legends of Besztercebánya and Selmecbánya. Also on display are the coats of arms of the mining towns of historical Hungary, along with wooden statues of Saint Kinga, Saint Barbara and Saint Anne, displayed together. These details give the museum a cultural and historical focus alongside its rocks and fossils.

An obelisk at the junction of Petőfi Sándor utca and Szécsenyi István utca commemorates the 800th anniversary of the first written mention of the settlement’s predecessor. The architectural history of the Nagyboldogasszony Church is especially evident in its Neoclassical rebuild: Ebergényi Benedek had it completely rebuilt between 1835 and 1837. It received the title it still uses today at that time.

A work of art inside the church is also part of its history. In the middle section of the nave’s main arch is a painted version of Gyula Benczúr’s allegorical drawing about the lands of the Hungarian Crown. It was created by the painter József Dragovics of Vasszécseny.

The Keresztelő Szent János Church stands in the village district of Lipárt and is the oldest listed building in the municipality of Vasszécseny. Alongside the Nagyboldogasszony Church, the Keresztényi Közösségi Ház és szoborpark includes a vicarage and a sculpture park. The town’s architectural and cultural history thus brings together several distinct features: Neoclassical church architecture, an older listed building and a complex with a sculpture park.

The coat of arms of the Ebergényi-Viczay family is displayed in the pediment of the façade of Új-Ebergényi kastély. The castle is surrounded by a well-maintained 14-hectare park. Another historic building in Vasszécseny is now known as the Magtár. It was built as the Festetics sörház, or brewery. Hofstadter Kristóf may have designed the building; he worked for Festetics Kristóf in Keszthely as an estate architect. Its former use as a brewery is also part of its history.
