Near Khromtau, the Aidarlyasha geomorphological outcrop exposes 40 layers of the Earth’s crust along 1.5 kilometers of riverbank and forms a cliff up to 50 meters high. In 1996, the Aidarlyasha stratotype received worldwide status for preserving traces of the Carboniferous and Permian systems. The Aidarlyasha section was added to Kazakhstan’s republican list of specially protected areas in 2005.

Culture

The interior and walls of the Nūr Mosque in Khromtau District are decorated with Kazakh ornamental patterns. The Khromtau District House of Culture operates within a district network of 13 club institutions.
