Nature
The Ile-Alatau State National Nature Park is a protected natural complex in the Zailiyskiy Alatau. Its landscapes range from diverse steppe and alpine meadows to glaciated peaks. Getting Around

Information boards along the digitised mountain trails provide details via QR codes about the difficulty, length and expected duration of each route. Seven camping zones have also been established in the Almaty mountain region. In remote mountain areas, 15 mountain huts provide shelter and emergency first-aid support.
A cable car to Kok-Tobe runs up over Almaty's urban districts and offers views of the city and the mountain ranges of the Trans-Ili Alatau. At the summit of Kok-Tobe there are viewing platforms, cafés, rides and walking paths.
Culture
Almaty has 29 museums, 33 libraries, 19 theatres and 21 cinemas. The city is also home to 161 historical and cultural monuments, including monuments of national and local significance. Almaty hosts international festivals of classical music, jazz and ethnic music every year.
Almaty's recognised cultural attractions include the Ykhlas Museum of Folk Musical Instruments, the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre and the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The National Central Museum welcomes visitors of all ages, who can explore its exhibitions at their own pace. A themed excursion can be booked in advance; a mobile audio guide is available in some halls.

The Arbat on Panfilov Street is a pedestrian zone for strolling, meeting up and relaxing quietly.
