Near Kokterek, a footpath leads to the Shukyrshak Waterfall. It is accessible from May to September and can only be traversed accompanied by an excursion guide. Near Kokterek is the Aksu-Zhabagly Biosphere Reserve, where 267 bird species and 52 mammal species have been recorded. In the wider region around Kokterek are Mount Karabas, Mount Archevaya Shishka, Bekisay Peak, and Mount Bokeytau.
