Vragoli offers culturally minded travelers several clearly distinct points of interest: a mosque in the town center and archaeological traces from different periods. A Late Bronze Age settlement, ancient finds, and medieval vessel fragments give the place a historical profile.

What archaeological traces are there?

A Late Bronze Age settlement lies on flat terrain at the western edge of the town, on the right bank of the Drenicë River. A survey conducted there by the Kosovo Museum in 1974 identified a few pottery fragments from this period. Both the location and the dating are important to its interpretation: the settlement is a point of reference for the Late Bronze Age, while the survey documents a small number of specific finds.

Pottery fragments and brick pieces have been identified at Kumanovk. The site is classified as an ancient settlement. Unlike the Bronze Age settlement, a different period and two types of material are in focus here. Glazed vessel fragments represent another period layer in Vragoli’s archaeology: the medieval layer. Their green, orange, or mixed coloring makes the glaze an additional detail of this group of finds.

A planning document from 2011 lists Te mulliri as a Roman archaeological site; at the time it was recorded, it had not been investigated. This distinguishes the entry from the pottery and brick pieces that were specifically identified: for Te mulliri, both its Roman classification and its status at the time of the document are part of the description.

What cultural points of reference shape Vragoli?

A new mosque was inaugurated in the center of Vragoli on July 5, 2013. The date gives this religious building a clear place in the town’s recent history. The archaeological records, by contrast, point to earlier periods, identified through settlements, layers, and finds. Those interested in cultural history can therefore consider two distinct points of reference: the dated inauguration of the mosque and material traces from earlier eras.

The tourism profile of the municipality of Fushë Kosovë describes Harilaq Castle as a popular tourist destination. It is another cultural point of reference in the municipal context; information about Vragoli itself focuses on the mosque and archaeological sites. This makes it possible to consider the town’s and the municipality’s attractions separately.

What municipal change is dated?

On November 9, 2020, the municipality announced the completion of the expansion of the underpass at the bridge in Vragoli. The work included installing signage and lighting, among other things. This dated infrastructure project adds a recent municipal topic to the cultural information about the town and is clearly distinct from archaeological traces of earlier eras.
