Balvi Old Park is located on the shore of Lake Balvi. It offers developed recreation and picnic areas as well as a pontoon-style pier providing access to the lake for fishing and swimming. The Regional Museum is housed in a reconstructed estate outbuilding within the Balvi estate complex. The historical setting also includes Balvi Manor, which was built at the end of the 18th century.

Another option on the lake is the motorised raft “Vilnītis”, which can accommodate up to 25 people and travel across Lake Balvi. Those who want to experience the water beyond a single location can join organised SUP expeditions across three lakes in the town. The environmental object “Gaiss” is designed as a symbolic wind-chime tree. The Centre for Sacred Culture hosts lectures on Christian topics, exhibitions, concerts and other themed events. Bear Garden complements these sites with a rock garden featuring 23 compositions made from 49 stones.
