Tīnūži Manor was founded in 1638; the estate included 16 farms. The Little Jugla flows through Tīnūži Parish and past Tīnūži. The 98-kilometre “Rīga–Ērgļi” Green Way passes through the village; the Suntaži–Turkalne canoe route on the Little Jugla is approximately 28 kilometres long.
Manor, Park, and Cultural Centre
Most of the former buildings of Tīnūži Manor have been preserved. Visitors can see the manor’s farm buildings and the former brewery. Built in 1912, the manor steward’s house is listed as a nationally significant architectural monument.
Today, only the outlines of the historic park remain at Tīnūži Manor. The grounds of the Tīnūži Manor centre are also characterised by unusual terrain.
The “Tīnūžu muiža” Cultural History Centre is located in a barn built in the early 1930s. The centre’s permanent exhibition explores the battles fought by Latvian Riflemen along the Little Jugla in 1917 and displays previously unpublished photographs, weapons, uniforms, and objects found at the sites of the battles.
What landscape defines Tīnūži?
On the banks of the Little Jugla lies the Lindenberg complex of Tīnūži Manor, among centuries-old oaks and near a Livonian burial ground. The Ogres Kangari esker range also begins in the vicinity of Tīnūži.
Tīnūžu muižas saliņa island formed naturally in the middle of the Little Jugla. A restored rope bridge leads to it. The island has a shelter and a barbecue or fire pit, but no toilet. Tīnūžu muižas saliņa is one of the picnic and recreational sites in Ogres Municipality.
What trails and activities are available?
The “Rīga–Ērgļi” Green Way passes through Tīnūži and follows a former railway line. The 98-kilometre route is suitable for cycling, hiking, horse riding, and cross-country skiing in winter.
One distinctive feature of the route is its surface: it consists mostly of gravel or forest roads. Kilometre markers and directional signs mark the route. The Suntaži–Turkalne canoe route on the Little Jugla is approximately 28 kilometres long and takes 6–7 hours.
