Murmastiene Parish: Moorland, Islands and Observation Towers
The Teiﾄ絞 Nature Reserve also includes Murmastiene Parish and has been designated a strict nature reserve since 1982. As an important resting place for migratory birds, it particularly shapes the natural environment in autumn: up to 1,500 cranes and 8,000 geese may gather in the reserve. Protected lesser spotted eagles (Aquila pomarina), black woodpeckers (Dryocopus martius) and European honey buzzards (Pernis apivorus) find habitat in the Murmastienes staignﾄ）u meﾅｾi. The combination of raised bog, forest and seasonally occurring bird populations gives the landscape a distinctly nature-oriented character. Seasonal gatherings of migratory birds and protected forest birds form two specific natural features: the resting place in autumn and the habitat of the Murmastienes staignﾄ）u meﾅｾi.

Landscape
Siksala is an island in the middle of the bog. The 28-metre-high Siksala observation tower offers views of the expansive raised-bog landscape, Lake Siksala, other islands and the village of Siksala. The 6.5-metre-high Tolkﾄ）a observation platform also offers views across the bog. There is a 21.5-metre difference in height between the two structures: the Siksala tower is exactly 21.5 metres higher than the Tolkﾄ）a observation platform. For observation structures, height can be considered separately when planning the day, alongside the described viewpoints.
Vilku Sala and Pﾅｫdnﾄｫka Sola are islands in the vicinity of Murmastiene Parish. Arklenieku Kalns is a hill in the vicinity of Murmastiene Parish. Culture

History
Siksala was once home to a village of Russian Old Believers. The historic village community forms part of the island's earlier history and adds a cultural-historical dimension to the present-day landscape impression. A monument to the 1st Liepﾄ）a Infantry Regiment stands at the site of its 1919 battle. The memorial site refers to a specific event in military history and, alongside the settlement history, makes the year 1919 visible in the landscape.
