Arendole – Manor House, Park and Dubna

Arendole Manor is at the heart of the cultural history. Its manor house was built in the Historicist style and has been preserved since the last reconstruction in 1901. The manor also houses the only authentic collection of furniture and interior furnishings from the manor houses of Latgale.

Another exhibition at Arendole Manor uses a private collection to present key historical events in Latgale. These include the First World War from 1915 to 1918, the liberation of Latgale from the Bolsheviks in 1919 and 1920, and the work of the border guard and police from 1920 to 1940. It also covers the resistance movement and the deportations of 1941, the Second World War in Latgale from 1941 to 1944, and the resistance to the second Soviet occupation from 1944 to 1991.

The two collections focus on different subjects: one displays authentic furnishings from manor houses, while the other explores historical events in Latgale.

The Catholic church also has a distinctive history. It was created from a destroyed stone building that served as a carpenter's workshop on the grounds of Arendole Manor and was acquired for the needs of the congregation in 1926. A memorial stone for police officer Jānis Babris was also erected on the manor grounds.

Several exotic tree and shrub species grow in the park.

Boat rentals are available at Arendole Manor. The 9 km boating route on the Dubna runs from Arendole to Vecvārkava.

Arendole Manor offers a traditional black sauna. The manor house rooms and grounds can be used for events, celebrations and concerts. Meals are prepared primarily using local and seasonal produce.
