Geographical location

Preila is located directly on the shore of the Curonian Lagoon. The town is a settlement on the Curonian Spit in Lithuania and belongs to the municipality of Neringa. Those wishing to book a hotel in Preila can then continue their accommodation search.

History

Preila was established around 1850 through the settlement of Curonian Spit fishing families from Neegeln and Karwaiten. The villages of Neegeln and Karwaiten, located near Preila, were buried under drifting sand; toward the end of the 19th century, the sand was stabilized through planting. The ruins of Karvaičiai are located in the vicinity of Preila.
