The part of the “Rėkyvos pelkė” area that includes Verduliukai is home to the protected pond bat (Myotis dasycneme; 7.47 ha) and the large white-faced darter (Leucorrhinia pectoralis; 1,198.44 ha); both are listed in Annex II to Directive 92/43/EEC of 21 May 1992. The Vijolė River rises in the area of Lake Rėkyvos, where the Verduliukų aukštapelkė raised bog is located. The Verduliukų aukštapelkė raised bog is designated as the source area of the Vijolė River. From Verduliukai, the Vijolė flows north towards Tilžės gatvė and joins the Kulpė near Sutkūnai.

Culture

The Rėkyvos Cultural Centre is located on the grounds of the former Rėkyvos manor estate; its main hall is housed in a former utility building of the manor. In the vicinity of Verduliukai, visitors can see authentic architectural details at the Rėkyvos manor estate and learn about the Karpiai family and the history of the area.

In the vicinity of Verduliukai, the history of the Rėkyvos manor estate begins in 1605. The Rėkyvos manor estate includes a reconstructed former smithy chapel dating from 1935. The estate also includes utility buildings and a partially preserved park with old avenues.

Things to Do

The cycling trip “Pietinio kronikos prieš 100 metų” includes Verduliukai as one of the historic villages south of Šiauliai. The route runs through streets and paths, as well as along paved and gravel sections.

Kitesurfing takes place on Lake Rėkyvos, and two yacht clubs operate on its shore. In the vicinity of Verduliukai, Lake Rėkyvos has a wooden bridge with an observation platform. At this point, the lake is Lithuania’s tenth-largest lake and has a sandy beach. The forests and marshes around Lake Rėkyvos attract numerous berry and mushroom pickers.
