The Polickie Lapidarium displays fragments of tombstones from former German cemeteries that once stood in the area of today’s Municipality of Police. The site was established in 1998 at the initiative of local authorities and historian Jan Matura. It is situated on a small hill in Staromiejski Park, on the grounds of a former cemetery.

The Lapidarium contains around 125 tombstone elements, including stelae with well-preserved inscriptions and stylized tree trunks. If you are interested in the history and design of tombstones, the different forms and inscriptions offer specific details to examine.

Another historic site is the Gothic chapel on Plac Bolesława Chrobrego, in the middle of the market square. It is the only surviving remnant of the 13th-century Church of Najświętszej Marii Panny, which was demolished toward the end of the 19th century. By contrast, the Neo-Gothic Kościół Mariacki dates from the 19th century. Its tower, over 60 metres high, is visible from afar in the Police skyline.

A waterfront area with landing stages for kayaks has been created on the Łarpia, right next to the Old Town. There are also opportunities for fishing and relaxation. The water therefore offers a focus of its own alongside the historic sites in the town centre.
