Măgura is located within Piatra Craiului National Park. For your planning, mountain hiking trails, cycling routes, cultural events and craft activities can be considered here as separate themes.
Nature
Măgura is located in an area of Piatra Craiului National Park where visitors can use the park’s mountain hiking trails. The village is also located within the Natura 2000 sites ROSCI0194 Piatra Craiului and ROSPA0165 Piatra Craiului. The national park administration offers visits to the mountain village of Măgura and traditional sheepfolds. In the national park, which includes areas around Măgura, guided excursions for observing wildlife and identifying animal tracks are offered. Visits to primeval forests and educational trails are also available.
The nature activities include observation, tracking, forest visits and educational trails as different formats. Together with the mountain hiking trails, they do not form a single programme, but rather a selection of different ways to explore the national park. For planning your day, you can therefore distinguish between trails, guided tours, forests and educational activities.
Cycling routes
The moderately difficult cycling route 4 descends into the village of Măgura shortly before Casa Folea. It descends via Coturile Măgurii to Fântâna lui Botorog. Cycling route 7 crosses Măgura and leads to the area above the Prăpăstiile Zărneștiului. Cycling route 8 climbs through Măgura via Coturile Măgurii and includes a steep descent towards Moieciu de Jos with water crossings and muddy pools. The different directions, terrain types and destinations provide a concrete basis for comparing the routes as part of your planning. The municipality of Moieciu lists Prăpăstiile Măgurei as one of its tourist attractions.
In Măgura, the cycling routes can be organised by difficulty, gradient, surface, water points, directions and views. The cultural and craft activities, by contrast, differ according to event format, recurring festival, traditional wooden house and practical production. This organisation keeps active, cultural and craft focuses separate.
Culture
Casa Artiștilor is a venue for concerts, artistic residencies and other cultural events and has hosted SoNoRo concerts several times. Festivalul de Artă Sacră Măgura is a recurring cultural event with editions in 2023, 2024 and 2025. At the festival, the 2024 programme included sewing and weaving traditional garments, a traditional bread-making workshop and a folk-dance workshop with choreographer Benone Pepine. The traditional Runceanu House in Măgura is built of wood.
For a hotel in Măgura, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered as separate points of comparison. The selection of these details remains separate from the cycling routes, nature activities and cultural dates, which represent different planning priorities.
Crafts
Măgura has a workshop for making traditional wooden brooms, where participants learn how to make such brooms. The traditional broom-making workshop includes collecting birch branches and hazel rods, weaving bundles of broom twigs and attaching them to handles.
