Fântâna Brazilor: Moorland, History and Family Experiences

The Tinovul de la Fântâna Brazilor peat bog lies near the DN13A national road, which connects Sovata with Odorheiu Secuiesc. In 2007, it was designated a Natura 2000 site.

The daffodil meadows of Fântâna Brazilor are visited seasonally. A 270-metre-long wooden footbridge was also renovated in the Tinovul de la Fântâna Brazilor protected area.

From Corund, Fântâna Brazilor can be reached along the Eszák stream via the village road designated DC50. Some parts of Fântâna Brazilor can be reached on foot from the DN13A national road via paths along the Köves, Égettvész, or Nagy-Lapos streams.

Fântâna Brazilor has been documented as a permanently inhabited dispersed settlement since 1898. The first permanent settlers came to Fântâna Brazilor in the final decade of the 19th century and intended to live there year-round.

The Unitarian chapel church in Fântâna Brazilor has listed-monument status. In the past, beech and pine logs felled nearby were processed in Fântâna Brazilor; charcoal was also frequently burned in clearings. The area around Fântâna Brazilor was formerly used as pastureland.
