Neussentesch – Culture, Events and Nature

Dumbrăvița is located on cleared land that was once part of Pădurea Verde. The Reformed Church stands in the Central Park, a neo-Gothic building consecrated in 1901. The Orthodox Church of “Sfântul Vasile” was built between 1996 and 2005. The Roman Catholic Church is considered representative because of its architecture; in Romania, there are only two churches with such architecture.

Culture and History

In addition to religious services, the Reformed Church hosts liturgical concerts and classical music concerts. The Dumbrăvița Cultural Centre was completed in 2021; its large hall has 800 seats, alongside several smaller rooms for artistic and club activities. The Sala Polivalentă has around 500 seats and a retractable grandstand and hosts ballroom dancing competitions. Events

The Ruga is a traditional celebration of the entire community and is associated with the patronal feast of the Orthodox Church in Dumbrăvița; it takes place at Pentecost. The “Zilele Dumbrăviței” celebrate the founding of the town with workshops, games, concerts and street food in the Central Park. The “Fărșangul Dumbrăvițean” reached its 21st edition and included a stage programme organised by the Hungarian community, featuring music and theatre scenes. The Festivalul Tocăniței is a traditional gastronomic event for Dumbrăvița in the Central Park, with guests from partner municipalities. The event “Sâmbăta Prietenilor” centred on a cooking competition open to everyone, involving cooking over a cauldron.

Dumbrăvița hosts the national Hungarian folk song competition “Őszirózsa”. The “Oszirozsa” competition aims to preserve Hungarian folk song by discovering and supporting young talent. Every year, children from 17 counties take part after winning the respective county-level rounds. Sports and Exercise

Dumbrăvița’s events calendar includes cycling competitions from May to September. There is a cycle path on Ion Creangă Street. On 13 December 2025, the official Liga 2 match between CSC Dumbrăvița and CSM Slatina took place at “Ștefan Dobay” Stadium.

Water and Landscape

The Dumbrăvița retention basin is the only standing surface water body within the municipality of Dumbrăvița and is located on the Behela stream in the northeast of the town. It covers 13 hectares, was created in 2009 and is fed by the Behela stream. The basin serves to reduce flood waves and for sport fishing. Fishing requires a currently paid membership fee, a membership card validated for the current year, and a personal fishing licence issued by A.N.P.A. and distributed by A.J.V.P.S. Timiș; fishing takes place from the shore.
