What is the landscape around Monakh like?

Monakh Ridge is visible north of Khamyshki and rises toward the Lago-Naki Plateau. The left headwaters of the Kutanka divide the ridge into three named rock formations: Monakh, Monashka, and Monashenok. Five tall waterfalls form a continuous cascade along the ridge. They are between 12 and 20 meters high. Distinctive rock formations and waterfalls are therefore part of the same landscape, while the names of the individual formations make it easier to find your way.

Monakh Rock has been declared a natural monument. Another nearby destination is Granite Canyon. It lies in Maikop District, between Dakhovskaya and Khamyshki, on the Belaya River. The canyon should therefore be considered a separate landscape attraction, not confused with the ridge.

Which hiking destinations can you choose between?

A purpose-built, equipped, and marked hiking trail leads from Khamyshki to waterfalls. At the foot of Monakh Rock, a trail leads to the Kutanka waterfalls. Another route also starts there, passes through Kalyuzhny's Garden to the Bzykha waterfalls, and continues to Raskol Rock. The destinations distinguish the routes: the Kutanka waterfalls on one route, and the Bzykha waterfalls and Raskol on the other.

A trail leads from the waterfalls to a viewpoint. Check the current condition of the trails before setting out. The view from this point, along with the described route, may be key to choosing between waterfall destinations and a view of the surrounding area.

What cultural and natural attractions are there in the wider travel area?

Twenty-one mound dolmens have been discovered on the plateau above Monakh Rock. There is also a megalithic monument near Mount Monakh. If you would like to include an archaeological site in your plans, check in advance whether it is accessible.

Destinations in Guzeripl offer further nature and culture attractions in the Republic of Adygea. The Caucasus Nature Reserve Museum was founded there in 1956. Its exhibitions cover the history of the reserve and its flora and fauna, and include specimens and interactive content. At the enclosure complex in Guzeripl, visitors can see wildcats, wolves, red deer, fallow deer, and other wild animals, and learn about their lives in the wild. Check whether the museum and enclosure complex are currently open before visiting.

Kamennomostsky also offers destinations in the Republic of Adygea: the Rufabgo waterfalls are near this settlement, which is one of Adygea's tourist centers. From Kamennomostsky, a freely accessible hiking trail passes the Khadzhokh Gorge and then follows the Belaya River below the rock known as “Pronesi gospod’i.” Take care on this trail.
