What does the historic city center tell us?

The town hall and Gostiny Dvor building in Mamadysh dates from 1785. As an administrative and commercial building from the late 18th century, it was built in the early Classical style. Until 1917, the city council met in the upper rooms; the ground floor housed rows of shops. The town hall is also the oldest building in the city to have survived the fire of 1853.

The pedestrian street Sovetskaya forms the historic center. It features monuments, the Alley of Heroes, children’s playgrounds and modern art installations. The surviving stone houses belonged to the merchants Shcherbakov, Zakharov, Batolin, Kuzovnikov, Shagiahmetov and Krasilnikov. Merchant Kuzovnikov’s house was built in the second half of the 19th century; from 1920, it housed the City Soviet of Workers’ Deputies.

Sovetskaya Street is also home to the Mamadysh Eiffel Tower, a spot for meeting up and taking photos. The Church of Saint Xenia of Rome was built in the 1870s as a cemetery church and is listed as a cultural heritage site. The local history museum has an exhibition dedicated to opera singer Nikolai Figner, who was born in Mamadysh.

What does the embankment and city park offer?

The approximately one-kilometer-long embankment along the Vyatka River includes a beach complex, children’s attractions and sports grounds. This brings together a range of activities by the water over a relatively short stretch.

Yashchek City Park has a central square for large events, with a dedicated spectator area, as well as a walk-through “dancing” fountain. The individually designed children’s play complex caters to different age groups; its play areas are modeled on an old fortress.

What winter sports are available?

The extreme and winter sports park in Mamadysh offers ski and snowboard runs measuring 500, 550 and 850 meters. The facilities are intended for beginners and advanced riders; there is also a tubing run. The three lengths make it possible to compare the runs, but do not indicate a specific difficulty level for any individual run. Check whether the winter sports facilities will be open on your travel dates.

What is there to see in the surrounding area?
