Largest airport in the EU countries of Central and Eastern Europe
Prague Airport is the largest airport in Central Europe and has the largest passenger terminal among the new members of the European Union in Eastern Europe. Most tourists—especially city-break visitors—from Western Europe who come to the Czech Republic arrive in Prague by air. The total number of passengers arriving at and departing from Prague-Ruzyně Airport exceeds 12 million a year. Prague Airport was named “Best Airport in Central and Eastern Europe” in 2005 and 2007.

Prague: a hub for the CIS
Following the Czech Republic’s accession to the Schengen Agreement, Prague Airport became one of the main hubs for air traffic between the EU and Eastern European countries outside the European Union. From Prague, you can fly to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova. Many destinations in Western Europe are also served by flights from Prague.
A modern international airport
Like most international airports, Prague Airport has all the hallmarks of a modern travel hub: numerous boutiques, souvenir shops and fashion stores. You can travel between the airport and Prague city center, for example, on a bus operated by the Czech airline “Czech Airlines.” Buses run every 20 minutes. A taxi ride to the city center takes about 30 minutes and costs around 30 euros (2010).
