Balkans
Poezdka.de publishes news and current affairs from the countries of Southeastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula. The new states of the former Yugoslavia, in particular, are currently undergoing rapid development. Tourism development is often among the important strategic goals of their economic growth. With few exceptions, the countries of the Balkan Peninsula were only lightly developed until a few decades ago. Today, new tourism projects can be developed from the outset using modern strategies and technologies, making news about holidays and tourism in this region especially interesting.
Important momentum is coming from Serbia and Montenegro, as well as Macedonia and Kosovo. What’s exciting is that each country is focusing on different priorities when it comes to developing tourism as an economic sector. All of them, however, are committed to building a functioning tourism infrastructure designed to meet the expectations of affluent Western and Russian visitors.
It is also interesting that Western tour operators have so far shown little interest in the new offerings on the Balkan Peninsula. The economic interests of private companies in Western Europe do not yet seem to align with the development plans of the new countries in Southeastern Europe. This could become a problem for tourism in the region—or an opportunity for these countries. In any case, it increases the need for information among those planning to arrange and take their own holidays in countries that have only recently opened up to tourism.
Poezdka.de aims to follow developments in Southeastern Europe and report on new developments. We also want to promote the countries of the Balkan Peninsula and showcase their tourism offerings. We believe they are well worth exploring.
