Ibe: Pëllumbas Cave, Erzen Gorges and Historic Routes

Ibe first draws attention to the nearby Pëllumbas Cave. It contains human cultural remains dating from the Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. The cave is approximately 360 meters deep and contains stalagmites and stalactites. Access to the Black Cave of Pëllumbas involves a 2 km walk along a trail.

Nature

There are three springs in the nearby Erzen Gorges, including two with sulfur-mineral water. In the same gorges, pools beneath waterfalls are used for swimming and riverside recreation in summer. The natural features around Ibë thus range from underground formations to water spots in the Erzen Gorges.

Culture

The “Steyrer” group was stationed in Ibë and Mushqeta. On November 15, 1944, the attacking XVII, IV, VIII and XV Brigades surrounded the group near Ibë and Mushqeta and almost completely destroyed it. The historic axis Ibë–Petrelë–Pezë–Ndroq is designated as a historic site. An amphitheater is the central feature of Teatër Park Kame.

Routes

Ibë is included in a planned network of cycling and nature trails intended to connect natural and historic areas. A planned tourism corridor runs from Cape Rodonit via Prezë, Vorë, Kuç, Ndroq, Petrelë and Priskë to Ibë. Those traveling by road toward Elbasan to the Pëllumbas Cave turn left in the village of Ibë and then continue to the cave.

Places and Activities

Resort Theater Park Kame is located in the village of Ibë on the banks of the Erzen River. Visitors can play golf on the spacious field in front of Resort Theater Park Kame.
