Belitsa: Hotels and Accommodation

The municipality of Belitsa extends into Rila National Park. Its territory includes landscapes with peaks over 2,500 metres, glacial lakes, and wooded river valleys. From Semkovo, high-alpine glacial lakes and peaks over 2,500 metres can be reached within several hours. A well-maintained asphalt road leads to Semkovo.

The Belitsa Bear Sanctuary can be reached from Belitsa via a 12.4 km drive. The final access road is passable by car, and large buses can reach the car park. The sanctuary has steep sections and more than 100 steps, making it unsuitable for people with reduced mobility and for pushchairs.

The Historical Museum in Belitsa is divided into seven departments. They cover archaeology, the history of the National Revival period, the present day, and ethnography; there is also a bazaar and a gallery. St. George's Church is the landmark of Belitsa and was built between 1833 and 1835. Two wooden fulling mills along the Belitsa River are still in operation and are still used.

For Belitsa's six eco-routes, the Tourist Information Centre can organise a biodiversity guide-interpreter as well as a specialist lecture in the halls of the Historical Museum of Belitsa. It also offers visitors a permanent ecological exhibition and organises lectures on the municipality's self-regulating ecological systems, as well as training on the habitats of rare and endangered animal and plant communities.
