Sredez: Hotels and Accommodations

Sredets is located in the foothills of the Strandzha Mountains on the right bank of the Sredetska River. Sredets is a road junction for Elhovo, Yambol, Karnobat, and Burgas and serves the settlements in central Strandzha. The town is located approximately 30 km from Burgas and on a route toward the southern Black Sea coast and Turkey. Sredets Municipality belongs to the Burgas–Black Sea tourist region, whose center is Burgas.

Parts of Sredets Municipality lie in the buffer zone of Strandzha Nature Park. The municipality is also home to ancient forests. The Visitor Information Center in Bozhura is intended to serve year-round as a base for environmental activities, outdoor educational programs, nature-related exhibitions and events, as well as training in crafts connected with nature and the sustainable use of resources.

In Fakia, which belongs to Sredets Municipality, women preserve the Enyova Bulya ritual. It is reenacted by the authentic Fakia White Women folklore group.

Local artisans in the municipality continue to practice pottery, weaving, spinning, cotton processing, basketry, and woodworking. Sredets is also home to the Probuda Community Cultural Center, with active amateur arts groups and a library containing more than 48,000 volumes.

The “Folklore Wreath Bozhura” gathering, a national Strandzha-Thracian folklore gathering, takes place over two days in Sredets and in the Bozhura area near the town. Forest Week in Sredets includes forest orientation and survival activities.

Sredets Municipality considers local cuisine, wines, and rakia among its tourism resources.
