Historical sights in Svilengrad include the Trinity Church, built in 1834 through voluntary donations, and the Hristo Popmarkov School. It was founded in 1848 and is the oldest school in the city; those wishing to book a hotel in Svilengrad can continue searching for accommodation afterward.

The Mustafa Pasha Bridge, also called the Old Bridge, crosses the Maritsa River in Svilengrad. It was built in 1529 by the Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan and has 20 stone arches. The Old Bridge is designated a national monument and connects the two parts of Svilengrad. In its center is a marble bas-relief plaque with an Ottoman inscription.

Landscape

The Municipality of Svilengrad encompasses flat, hilly, and low mountainous terrain. The central part of the municipality lies in the Upper Thracian Plain. It includes the foothills of the Sakar Mountains and the Gora ridge of the Eastern Rhodopes.

The Maritsa is the most important water resource and the receiving river of the Municipality of Svilengrad. The Eastern Rhodopes Nature Park includes parts of the areas of Mezek and Siva Reka. Part of the Sakar CORINE area within the municipality has international nature conservation status.
