The Old Mill houses the Village Business Academy and hosts cultural events, training sessions, retreats, exhibitions, and workshops.

Nature

The Lulyakata Protected Area extends across the territories of Gorsko Slivovo and Krushuna. It is a forested lilac massif protected for its distinctive landscape.

Garvanitsa can be reached from Gorsko Slivovo by car or bicycle via a signposted route. The vertical Garvanitsa Cave is located near Gorsko Slivovo, approximately two kilometres from the village; the descent is via an almost vertical metal ladder. Malka Garvanitsa in Gorsko Slivovo has been mapped and is open to visitors. Nearby, Golyama Garvanitsa has an entrance accessible to tourists, with metal stairs and platforms.

Culture

Gorsko Slivovo is home to the Orthodox Church of St. George the Victorious, built in 1852, and a mosque dating from 1586. The Razvitie-1872 community centre runs an amateur ensemble for folk songs, humorous sketches, and recitations.

Gorsko Slivovo has hosted the “Nine Songs from the Spring” folklore gathering. The event alternates annually between the nine villages of the Devetashko Plateau and presents the folklore, traditions, customs, and sights of the plateau’s villages. In the surrounding area, the Roman fortresses of Kaleto and Daran-Baran can be seen from the Krushuna–Karpachevo eco-trail.

Food and Activities

The local visitor offering includes herbal teas. A local speciality called “Slancheva turshiya” is made from garden vegetables that are kept in jars in the sun for one or two days before being moved to a cool place.

Horse-riding lessons are offered locally in connection with Gorsko Slivovo. Boat trips to underground lakes and caves are also offered in connection with Gorsko Slivovo.
