Culture

The Church of the Holy Trinity, “Church of Holy Trinity,” was built in Izvor in 1863; a school in a monastic cell was founded next to it in the same year.

Inscriptions can be found on the western façade of the Church of the Holy Trinity.

The Otec Paisiy-1927 Cultural Center was founded on January 9, 1927. Since 2009, it has also organized the regional traditional competition for Easter tables, “Cherven, cherven Velikden.” The cultural center is also home to the women’s folk dance group “Izvorski Naniz.”

Traditions

During the competition, the village square becomes a celebration of Easter traditions. Participants from the provinces of Pernik, Kyustendil, and Sofia take part.

Izvor was one of the villages in the Radomir area associated with many boza producers.

Geographical location

The Izvor Monastery of Saints Peter and Paul is located about one kilometer south of Izvor in the Kolosh Mountains.

Liturgies at Izvor Monastery are held only on major Christian holidays.

Izvor is located near the Sofia–Kyustendil E871 road.
