Opanets is included in the Natura 2000 protected zone BG0000181 River Vit. The Vit River flows through the area of Opanets. The Vit corridor near Opanets contains old riverbeds, quarry lakes, and other bodies of water.

Opanski Bair is designated as a natural landmark within the area of Opanets. In addition, Opanski Bair is classified as a protected natural landmark associated with the protection of Tertiary fossils.

Culture

The new church in Opanets preserves a brass bell made in the workshop of the Kantardzhiev brothers and saved from the former church. In Opanets, Izgrev-1929 is registered as an active community center. A children's dance ensemble from Izgrev-1929 was among the ensembles listed for the “Horo se Vie Krai Manastira” event.

History

A monument to the Russian doctor Pirogov stands in a garden opposite the town hall in the center of Opanets. The area around the Pirogov monument was restored with marble cladding, a paved surface, a path lined with benches, and flowers.

A stone monument to Romanian soldiers stands on a hill above the old settlement of Opanets. A Kurban gathering in Opanets on May 11 brought together families, relatives, and former residents.
