In the village center of Branipole, opposite the town hall, stands the Orthodox Church of Saints Constantine and Helena; it was built in 1927–1928. A small hill is the still-visible trace of a prehistoric Thracian settlement in Branipole. The Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel is located opposite the cemetery. There is also the Catholic Church of Saint Felix of Cantalice.
Branipole was formerly known as Ahlanovo; there are two possible interpretations of this name.
Festivals and Traditions
On May 21, Branipole hosts the village festival and the traditional fair. The village also takes part in a traditional Masopust carnival featuring Kukeri, bell ringing, folk festivities, and a bonfire.
Near Branipole, a traditional grape-pruning festival includes drumming, Horo dancing, wine, and meze. Branipole hosted the third edition of the National Folklore Festival “Folklorna Palitra”. At the celebration of the community center’s centenary, banitsa prepared in a pan was offered as a local specialty.
A liturgy and a communal kurban meal were planned for an announced temple festival in honor of Saints Constantine and Helena in Branipole.
Getting Around
The road route to Hiza Zdravets passes through Branipole and then continues to Galabovo and Tsar Kaloyan.
A designated cycling route running Plovdiv–Branipole–Belashtitsa–Galabovo–Hiza Zdravets–Koprivkite–Yavorovo–Kuklen–Brestnik is 55 km long, uses mostly paved and unpaved roads, and has a low to moderate technical difficulty level. The climb on this cycling route begins in Branipole and reaches Koprivkite after approximately 19 km and 1,100 m of ascent.
