The Nikolovo Reservoir is an artificial body of water on the Saradjiyska River and has a water length of approximately 1,450 meters.
Nature
Lipnik Forest Park is located in the Nikolovo area, 10 km east of Ruse. It is situated in a forested area of approximately 20,000 decares dominated by linden trees and was developed as a park from the 1950s onward. Lipnik Forest Park includes a camping area. There was also a zoo corner there.
Trails
The Lipnik–Minzuhar eco-trail connects Lipnik Forest Park in Nikolovo with the Minzuhar Hut. A previously impassable section of this eco-trail has been made accessible. The endpoints of the Lipnik–Minzuhar eco-trail can be reached by bus routes 10 and 33, as well as by the Ruse–Nikolovo intercity route.
Traffic is controlled and directed in a single lane on the road at the Nikolovo Dam. Vehicles with a permissible total mass of more than 3.5 tonnes are prohibited on the Nikolovo section of the dam.
Culture
The national folklore festival “Scene under the Lindens” is traditionally held in Lipnik Forest Park in Nikolovo. It takes place over two consecutive days in June and features a competition format for dance, music, and authentic folklore groups from northern Bulgaria.
An annual traditional gathering takes place in Lipnik Forest Park on August 2, Ilinden.
Water
The Dragon Boat Festival in Lipnik near Nikolovo combines sport, culture, and East Asian traditions. At the 2025 Dragon Boat Festival, visitors could board dragon boats free of charge after a mandatory briefing.
