Near Madara is the Madara Rider, a rock relief from the early 8th century carved into an almost vertical limestone wall and listed by UNESCO as a cultural World Heritage Site.

Madara’s annual village festival is associated with Saint George and the Madara Rider and takes place at the foot of the Madara Rider. The village also has a folk singing group as well as a children’s and youth folk dance ensemble.

In the wider region surrounding Madara are the Preslav Archaeological Museum, Tarnov Dyal, Veliki Preslav, Kartaltepe, and Otaka.

Nature

In the surroundings of Madara, the nature reserve combines limestone cliffs, caves, a spring, and diverse natural landscapes. The rock wall features numerous natural caves that were historically used as churches, chapels, monastic retreats, and burial sites.

Sakartepe is located in the area surrounding Madara. An ecological educational trail also leads through part of the Madara Reserve near Madara, an area characterized by rare plant and animal species.
