Culture and History

The center presents the local tangible and intangible cultural heritage through information panels, animated videos, a computer game, and authentic exhibits. The Topolnitsa Archaeological Park includes an exhibition building and reconstructions of Early Neolithic dwellings. The remains of an Early Neolithic settlement that existed more than 7,000 years ago have also been preserved there. The park includes workshops for leatherworking and the production of stone tools and ceramic vessels. Visitors can stay overnight in the Neolithic dwellings. The Church of the Holy Archangel Michael in Chavdar was built in 1883.

Nature

The Kazanite natural site near Chavdar consists of five small waterfalls and has been designated a natural landmark since 1970. Next to the site is a large shelter with a barbecue, available for visitors to rest.

Activities

The sports tourism attraction near St Petka includes two climbing walls, an observation tower, and a two-story rope course. In the municipality of Chavdar, the Bratia Hut has 49 beds and the Sakardzha Hut has 36 beds.

Geographical Setting

Chavdar lies between Stara Planina to the north and SÅ­shtinska Sredna Gora to the south; the Topolnitsa River runs between them.
