Nature

The Kostenets Waterfall is located on the Chavcha River in the center of Vili Kostenets. It has been designated a natural landmark since 1974, and its drop is approximately 10 meters. Those wishing to book a hotel in Kostenez can continue searching for accommodation afterward.

At the waterfall there are information boards, signposts, food options, and parking spaces. It also serves as a starting point for mountain trails toward Belmeken in the northern Rila Mountains. Recreation

The thermal springs of Momin Prohod are located 3 km north of Kostenets and can be reached via a paved road. Below the Kostenets Waterfall in Vili Kostenets lies the Kostenets mineral water deposit; it is accessible by road, and the water temperature is 46 °C.

Culture

The Church of St. George in the town of Kostenets was consecrated in 1932. Its altar and bishop's throne feature remarkable woodcarvings. The Church of St. John the Baptist in Gorna Vasilitsa contains frescoes from the Bulgarian National Revival period and valuable iconography.

The craft workshop at the Geo Milev Community Center in Momin Prohod preserves traditional local crafts and passes them on to children and visitors. It presents local cuisine, including banitsa, pogacha, tikvenik, and kachamak. Visitors can buy handmade local souvenirs there and take part in the activities, which include demonstrations of loom weaving and knitting.

History

The Stenos Fortress near Trayanovi Vrata is a historical heritage site on the saddle between the Eledzhik and Golak ridges. The information center offers guided explanations, an exhibition hall, a presentation room, as well as fortress souvenirs and maps.

From Kostenets or Ihtiman, Mirovo railway station can be reached by road; from there, the marked route to Trayanovi Vrata takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
