Kostinbrod: Hotels and accommodations

The Scretisca archaeological complex is classified as an immovable archaeological cultural property of national importance. The archaeological sequence in the Gradishte area later also included the Early Byzantine fortified settlement of Kratiscara. Culture and history

The Shiyakovo Monastery is located approximately 1 km from Kostinbrod on Lom Road and is associated with the establishment of a secret revolutionary committee by Vasil Levski in 1871. The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius is the largest church in Kostinbrod Municipality; its foundation stone was laid in 1905, and it was consecrated in 1907.

In Maslovo, the Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker stands on the site of an older church; nearby are a fountain, a playground, and a recreation area. The Church of Saint Petka in Boyovtsi was built in 1852, fully frescoed by masters from the Debar and Samokov schools, and designated a Group II cultural monument of exceptional artistic value.

Events

Kostinbrod Municipality regularly organizes the three-day Bulgarian folklore festival “Shopski Naniz.” It has a competitive format and attracts participants from across the country. The annual Katsujinken martial arts festival takes place in Kostinbrod and promotes martial arts, Eastern philosophy, and sportsmanship. At the annual Haidushki Ruchay folklore festival in Gradets, amateur and professional performers of Bulgarian folk music appear.

Nature

The Bezden Reservoir is located in the land area of Bezden and is fed by the nearby Bezden karst spring. The Bistritsa Reservoir near Bezden offers opportunities for fishing, as well as picnicking and walking by the water. The Maslovo Reservoir is used for recreation and fishing and attracts residents and visitors for dining and relaxation.

Near Beledie Han, close to the Lyulyaka Hut, a bridge over the Kriva River provides access to picnic and walking areas, a gazebo, a restored playground, and areas of local biodiversity. The Orlovi Skali and Stenite rock formations near Gradets are used for climbing and nature walks. The area around Gradets has eco-trails for hiking and cycling, as well as opportunities to observe wildlife.

A municipal tourism program lists a cycling route from Sofia through Kostinbrod, Petarch, Opitsvet, Bezden, Boyovtsi, Beledie Han, and the Lyulyaka Hut.

The municipality of Kostinbrod has several votive crosses in villages and local churches, while others are located in scenic, more remote places that can be reached on foot.
