Culture

“Starci v Turia” is listed as an annual national festival of masquerade games in Turia. The 2024 program included the spectacle “Zagovavane,” in which performers from the municipality of Turia presented evening ritual practices associated with regional Kuker games.

The Nashentsi Hall in Turia is a permanent exhibition. The village museum of Turia at Chitalishte Chudomir displays household objects, children's drawings of Kukers, and authentic Kuker masks.

The Chudomir House in Turia was declared an immovable cultural heritage property of national significance in 1998. It houses exhibitions on the life and work of the writer-artist, featuring original manuscripts, personal documents, photographs, facsimiles, and objects, as well as an art gallery. Based on detailed descriptions and sketches of the former rooms, the house was reconstructed to resemble its original appearance.

The Sirni-Zagovezni traditions in Turia, as described in local accounts, include Kuker games, songs, dances, and communal bathing in the river.

Nature

From the stone bridge at the exit of Turia, a marked trail leads approximately 1.5 kilometers in one direction to Pirostiya. Pirostiya near Turia is a Thracian sanctuary consisting of three upright stones and a fourth stone lying above them like a tripod.

Yarat is a protected site with earth pyramids of various shapes formed by erosion; some are up to 10 meters high. Access to Yarat is discouraged because the path along Yarat is not secured.
