Kipra: Hotels and Accommodation

The Hristo Botev Chitalishte in Kipra was founded and named on December 4, 1927, on the initiative of teacher Georgi Kalchev. The present-day institution includes the Kipra Ensemble and the Kiprenki Folk Dance Club. The ensemble performed in 2013 at an international folklore festival in Loznica, Serbia.

The annual village celebration on May 23 includes a traditional kurban, a blessing, songs, dances, horo dancing in the square, and the laying of a wreath at the local memorial ossuary. The Ethnographic House visitor program also included a demonstration of wool spinning and yarn weaving on a vertical loom, described as the only one of its kind in northeastern Bulgaria.

The history of the place has also been preserved under different names: the former name Taptak or Tabdik is recorded in an Ottoman livestock register dated September 12, 1573. By an order published on August 14, 1934, the settlement was renamed from Taptak to Kipra.

In the village center there is an eco-rest area with a pavilion, bench, book house, bird feeders, recycling containers, and a bicycle stand. The rest area also includes a rock garden with a solar fountain and a reservoir for collecting rainwater.

Kipra lies on the wooded foothills of the Franga Plateau, on the slope of the Devnya Lowland. The settlement is situated at the upper ends of three ravines that descend from the plateau. From the west, Kipra can be reached via a turnoff from the Devnya–Suvorovo road.

Kipra's Ethnographic House is housed in a building from the late 19th century and contains an ethnographic exhibition. On June 17, 2017, the house was included in the tourist route “Varna–Pobiti Kamani–Mosaic Museum” and opened for organized visits. Tourists who visited the Ethnographic House could buy local wine and Kipra honey there.
