The land around Slivovitsa lies within the protected zone BG0000279 “Stara Reka”. It protects river and forest habitats, including tall-herb communities, hard-water springs with tufa formations, vegetation on limestone slopes, mixed scree forests and alluvial forests.

For geographical reference, two local roads are listed: VTR1160 connects Gorsko Novo Selo with Slivovitsa and III-4082 and runs for 7.160 kilometres. VTR3165 leads from Slivovitsa to Ormanlii over 1.500 kilometres.

Culture and History

Slivovitsa has the Church of the “Presentation of the Virgin Mary”, which is recognised as artistic cultural heritage. There is also a historical monument commemorating those who fell in the wars. The Prosveta 1927 community cultural centre in Slivovitsa celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2017.

The recurring folklore festival “With the Songs of Boris Mashal” is listed for Slivovitsa. The sixth edition is documented for 2019, and the eighth for 2023. At the sixth edition of the festival in Slivovitsa, listed for 2019, the Zlatarche folklore group is recorded as having taken first place.

A joint celebration by Slivovitsa and Dedina for the Feast of the Holy Spirit and Pentecost is recorded for 21 June.
