Culture and Townscape

East of Postira, Lovrečina preserves the early Christian Church of St Lawrence with a cross-shaped baptismal font. The sandy bay extends inland as a cultivated landscape.

The parish church of St John the Baptist in Postira stands on the ruins of an early Christian basilica complex from the 5th–6th century. A walk through the old town centre passes a small bridge, paved lanes and the parish church.

Postira’s narrowest street is “Pust me proć” in Škarića dvori. The taverns in Škarića dvori are associated with local wine and olive oil.

Trails and Activities

The Via Brattia is an approximately 140-kilometre-long, circular tourist hiking route that passes through Postira. It is marked in both directions, and hikers can start the route in Postira.

The Good Friday Penance Procession covers a 5.5-kilometre penance walk led by a cross-bearer carrying a 30-kilogram cross. The Good Friday Trail can be walked throughout the year.

Postira’s central Sports Centre has two natural-grass football pitches, two tennis courts, a cageball court and a bocce court.

Landscape and Surroundings

Mirje is located near Postira, about a half-hour walk away, and is described as the richest early Christian site on Brač.

Nearby Vidova Gora is the highest peak on Brač and among the Croatian islands, with views towards the central and southern Dalmatian islands and Golden Cape beach.

Events and Local Products

The Olive Picking World Championship has been held in Postira since 2017. It includes competitions in hand-picking olives and quizzes about olive cultivation; the programme also includes tastings, excursions and entertainment evenings.

Brač olive oil received a European designation of origin in 2022.

By 2025, the Postira Seaside Film Festival had reached its 15th edition; screenings are held on the main square (Pjaca).
