Culture and history

Stari grad Bosiljevo was built by the Frankopan family in the 15th century. The complex has an irregular pentagonal layout and was added to the Croatian Register of Cultural Goods in 2002.

The present-day parish church of St. Mavra was built between 1896 and 1903 and consecrated in 1913.

The KUD Frankopan preserves songs and dances from the Bosiljevo area. Bosiljevo is also associated with Ana Katarina Zrinski as the area of her origin.

Bosiljevo lies between the Bosiljevo 1 motorway interchange on the Zagreb–Split–Ploče route and the Bosiljevo 2 motorway interchange on the Rijeka–Zagreb route.

Traditions

The most important pilgrimage celebration in Bosiljevo is the Feast of Saint Vitus on 15 June; the larger pilgrimage takes place on the first Sunday afterward.
