Draganić: Hotels and Accommodation

Draganić combines traditional customs with historical traces, fishponds, and several cycling routes. For a trip here, some travelers may want to book a hotel.

Culture

The KUD “Sv. Juraj” Draganić cultural association preserves local folk costumes, songs, dances, and customs. The skill of making Draganić puranac has also been entered in the Register of Cultural Heritage of Croatia. Jahanje na Štefanje is described as a traditional custom of Draganić.

The Barica Turčić Ethnographic Collection preserves household items, tools, furniture, and traditional clothing from the Domladovac cooperative. It also presents the furnishings of a residential house from the early 19th century, as well as traditional men’s and women’s clothing from Draganić.

Before the Feast of Saint Nicholas, a procession leads from the Chapel of Saint Fabian and Saint Sebastian to the statue of Saint Nicholas. This is followed by a children’s program and the distribution of gifts. The statue and column of Saint Nicholas in Lazina are described as some of the few monuments to Saint Nicholas in continental Croatia.

Posjed Contessa is a historic estate in Draganić dating from the time of Austria-Hungary. The estate offers organized visits for schools, families, and tourist groups. The programs include guided tours of the estate, encounters with horses and ponies, costumes, and themed workshops.

History

The Parish Church of Saint George in Šipak was first recorded in 1334. Its bell tower preserves architectural elements of the late Renaissance. A defensive fortification was built near Gradišće, close to the parish church. A bronze sword from the Ilijina Glavica archaeological site is dated to the 9th or 8th century BC.

Nature

The historical educational trail through the Draganić forest conveys local historical events as well as the flora and fauna found there. The 220-meter-high Piramida hill is associated with recreation and viewpoints.

The Draganić fishponds are described as some of Croatia’s most important bird habitats. At the same time, they are a significant stopover site along the birds’ spring and autumn migration routes.

Cycling Routes

The 23.2-kilometer circular Route 40 connects Draganić, the Draganić forest, and a fishpond before leading back to Draganić. It starts and ends at the railway station in Draganić. Cycling Route 43 is named “Bregi Draganićki” and is designated as a 12.8-kilometer paved circular route.

Cycling Route 45 starts and ends at the cemetery in Draganić, near the Parish Church of Saint George. It is marked and intended for recreational cyclists and less demanding cyclists. The route combines 2.5 kilometers of asphalt with 4.7 kilometers of gravel. A 540-meter section on State Road D1 requires particular caution.
