Hrašćina is a municipality in Krapina-Zagorje County, Croatia.
Hrašćina is located in the northeastern part of Krapina-Zagorje County, on the border with Varaždin County and Zagreb County.
Culture and History
Hrašćina has several religious buildings. These include the protected Chapel of Saint Benedict in Gornji Kraljevec, the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows from 1735 in Trgovišće, and the parish church of Saint Nicholas from the 17th century in Hrašćina. A Roman tombstone is also incorporated into the statue of Saint Anne.
Hrašćina is associated with the first documented meteorite fall: the fall was recorded there on 26 May 1751, observed by many people and became an important event in the history of astronomy.
Hrašćina also includes a protected cultural and historical ensemble.
Since 2012, 26 May has been celebrated as Hrašćina Municipality Day.
