Brijest: Hotels and Accommodation
Brijest is located 5 km south of Osijek at the intersection of the Osijek–Jarmina state road and the Vinkovci road from Osijek to Brijest. The village is home to the “Posljednji kadar” sculpture and memorial at the place where HRT cameraman Žarko Kaić was killed. Culture and History
The Roman Catholic Parish of the Martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist in Brijest was founded in 1987. The parish church of the Martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist was built from 1994 to 1997. It is described as the first parish church in Osijek whose construction began after Croatia became an independent state.
A commemorative event for the 31st anniversary was also held at the “Posljednji kadar” memorial, where wreaths were laid and candles lit for Žarko Kaić.
