Metković: Hotels and Accommodation

The Dolina Neretve Južni krug begins in Metković and heads towards Zažablje; after reaching Blace, it returns to Metković along the main course of the Neretva. The Srcem doline Neretve route reaches Metković and then continues south along a well-maintained path beside the Neretva. Culture

At the Prirodoslovni muzej Metković, the permanent exhibition uses explanatory panels, habitat dioramas, preserved animals and multimedia audiovisual displays. The first room presents the geological and biospeleological features of the Neretva Delta. At the end of the same permanent exhibition, there are short films and quizzes for children. The museum provides access for people with disabilities as well as visitors who have difficulty climbing stairs. Groups of more than 10 visitors can arrange a visit outside regular opening hours.

Metković has a theatre with an indoor stage with 480 seats and an outdoor stage with 800 seats. The parish church of St Ilija features neo-Romanesque architecture and a stone rose window.

The archaeological site of ancient Narona is located in Vid near Metković. The Narona Museum is described as Croatia’s first in situ museum; it was built over the remains of the Augusteum temple dedicated to Emperor Augustus, which was built in 10 BC.

Nature

The protected landscape of Predolac-Šibenica features educational trails and pedestrian promenades. Near Metković, Predolac-Šibenica is listed as a protected area and was designated in 1968. Also near Metković, Pod Gredom is designated as a protected wetland; the designation took place in 1974.

Water

The Neretva in Metković is used by kayakers and canoeists for training.

Getting There

Metković can be reached via the A1 motorway and the D8–D9 Adriatic roads. A landing stage is located on the Neretva in the city centre.
