Brtonigla: Hotels and Accommodation

The Four Soils experience describes Brtonigla as a meeting point of Istria’s white, grey, black and red soils. Four Soils wine combines Istrian Malvasia with the area’s distinctive four-soil characteristics.

Culture

The Church of St. Roch dates back to the 14th century. Its high altar features a carved, polychrome-painted wooden altarpiece, identified as one of the few surviving late Renaissance altarpieces in Istria. The altar of the Church of St. Roch has the status of protected cultural heritage.

The Church of St. Zenon is a 15th-century church that was rebuilt in the Neo-Baroque style in the 19th century. At the Aleksandar Rukavina Gallery, the permanent collection focuses on 37 sculptures preserved in the artist’s studio. Exhibitions by other artists, as well as musical or literary presentations, are occasionally held there. Visitors can arrange gallery visits in advance through the tourist board.

Nature

The Mramornica Cave is located near Brtonigla, at Stancija Drušković. It features a large underground chamber with colourful formations and stalagmites up to 13 metres high; access is via pre-arranged cave routes.

The St. Zenon hiking trail begins in Brtonigla-Verteneglio and leads to Å karline Nature Park. There, small lakes and a stream have formed a gorge towards the Mirna River. The St. Zenon hiking trail takes up to two hours.
